10 Movies To Get You In The Halloween Spirit

October is finally here which means Pumpkin Spiced Lattes, sweaters, and umbrellas are all about to make their yearly comeback appearance. But what makes us so excited about the arrival of October is that it signifies that the fall holidays are finally here! And let's be honest, the holidays are the only thing keeping our head up during the work week as we watch their shiny dates quickly approaching on our iCals. Although we have to wait another 30 days before we get to reveal our costumes, it doesn't mean you can't start celebrating now. We've rounded up our favorite Halloween movies to get you in the frightful spirit! So grab that PSL, put on the fireplace, and cozy on up to these fan favorites. You're in for a treat, that is, as long as you don't get tricked first.....

 

1. Halloweentown (1998) 

This Disney Channel classic centers around three siblings who aren't allowed to celebrate Halloween. That is, until they runaway with their Halloween loving grandmother only to find out she's a witch from Halloweentown! Watch "Halloweentown" here. 

 

2. Hocus Pocus (1993) 

Three witches, as played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy, return 300 years later after being hung in Salem in the 17th century. The trio set out on a quest for immortality. Watch "Hocus Pocus" here. 

 

3. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) 

Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloweentown, finds himself in Christmas Town and decides to kidnap Santa and take over the holiday himself.  Watch "The Nightmare Before Christmas" here. 

 

4. The Craft (1996) 

A trio of outcasts of a Catholic prep school befriend the new girl at school. The now foursome practice witchcraft and conjure up curses to place on those who anger them, or even slightly annoy them. Watch "The Craft" here. 

 

5. Beetlejuice (1988) 

The ghosts of Adam and Barbara Maitland find themselves stuck haunting their house for the next 150 years. That's no problem, until the house is sold to a family they can not stand. Their attempts to scare away the Deetles prove to be unsuccessful and attract the help of bio-exorcist Beetlejuice. Watch "Beetlejuice" here. 

 

6. The Addams Family (1991) 

Our favorite kooky and creepy family are back! Gomez Adams, head of the family, tells his lawyer Tully that he hasn't seen his brother Fester in years! But when a loan shark demands Tully pay him, her son poses as Fester in order to break into the family's vault. Watch "The Addams Family" here. 

7. Corpse Bride (2005)

Victor Van Dort ends up marrying the Corpse Bride, a literal skeletal woman who just also happens to be dead. Victor will now need to choose between his new Corpse Bride and his once-upon-a-time fiancé Victoria. Watch "Corpse Bride" here. 

8. Ghostbusters (1984) 

In NYC, three parapsychologists (that's ghost scientists for those of you that don't know) take on the streets of Manhattan and start a ghost-busting business. Watch "Ghostbusters" here. 

9. Casper (1995) 

The unlikeliest of friendships is formed between Casper, the friendly ghost, and Kat. The two bond as they come to terms with the tragedies of their individual lives. Watch "Casper" here. 

10. It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1996)

You loved it as a kid and you'll love it even more now! On Halloween night, Linus waits for the arrival of The Great Pumpkin even though none of his friends believe it is real.  Watch "The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" here.
